The ramblings of a madman addicted to tech

What I’m doing now

I’m currently working as a remote DevOps engineer for an Italian company. My work revolves around developer tooling, automation, and infrastructure management - both for customers and internal projects.

I try to keep my computing devices working for as long as possible: I daily drive an iPhone 12 and a ThinkPad X220. The ThinkPad runs on a blazing fast second-generation i5 with 6GB of RAM, which is still enough to handle most of my computing needs surprisingly well.

I really enjoy not wasting money, time (reconfiguring, restoring from backups, …) and generating e-waste, so I try to keep to what works if I don’t really have to change it. I don’t chase tech trends or stuff like that, so I don’t need 64 GB of RAM or the latest iPhone with Apple Intelligence.

Emacs is my digital home, where I spend most of my computing time. However, I’m consciously trying to reduce screen time and digital dependencies where possible. I’ve been incorporating more analog tools into my life for years now - (fountain) pen and paper tend to offer a clarity and focus that digital tools sometimes obscure. The jewel in the crown of my FP collection is a Pilot Custom 823 in amber that my absolutely fantastic girlfriend got me for Christmas a few years ago - but I have quite a few other pens as well.

My gaming hobby is well documented here, but currently I’m also getting back into MTG at the local game store literally down the road from my house, which has finally manifested the threat to my wallet it was always turning into.

This is a snapshot of my life as of late February 2025. Things can and will change, but I’ll try to keep this as up to date as possible.
